Support Us Through FLX Gives

FLX GIVES, our area’s annual day of giving, launches on November 12th at 6pm and goes until November 13th at 6pm.

Help Us Open the Door

Open the Door to Homeownership

Since 1993, Steuben County Habitat for Humanity has built 43 homes, helping 43 families purchase an affordable home and realize their dream of homeownership.

Our latest Habitat home is located in Bath, NY. In the spring, we will be building a home in the City of Corning.

Open the Door to Education

Steuben County Habitat for Humanity (SC HFH) offers educational workshops and collaborates with others to provide instruction in home maintenance, budget counseling, and credit repair.

Each fall, we offer a Power Tools for Women Workshop, taught by women. This workshop helps women learn new skills and build confidence.

Studies show that safe housing improves children’s academic performance, decreases absences, and correlates with higher high school graduation rates.

Open the Door to Independence, Safety, and Aging in Place

In the past two years, Steuben County Habitat for Humanity has completed over 30 critical health and safety repairs, primarily for disabled veterans and seniors. These repairs have allowed homeowners to remain safely and independently in their homes.

Our Ramp Program has provided 9 wheelchair ramps to those in need, helping both disabled homeowners and their caregivers.

Open the Door to Savings and Sustainability

The ReStore accepts donated items from the public and sells them at prices well below retail. Along with helping community members afford needed items for their homes, the ReStore keeps tons of material out of the landfill. Proceeds support the mission of SC HFH.

In the coming months, we will be opening a second ReStore in the Hornell area.

The Tool Library, located at the Corning ReStore, offers the public an annual membership for $30. Members can borrow up to 3 tools at a time for one week, making needed home repairs and DIY projects more affordable.

Who We Are

Habitat for Humanity is a global housing organization that has grown to become a leading nonprofit working in nearly 1,400 communities throughout the U.S. and in nearly 70 countries.

Since its inception in 1993, Steuben County Habitat for Humanity has built or repaired over 43 homes for families. In the past five years, we have also helped 18 area veterans make critical repairs to their homes. We operate the ReStore, Tool Library, and other programs.

We have also begun to strengthen our Critical Repair program. We have also started our Ramp Building Program and have built 4 ramps already with more on the way! We have done 6 Critical repairs in the last year. The need is great in our area; we have over 30 people on our waiting list, with more inquiries coming in weekly.

These ramps and repairs are so important to helping people in our area stay in their homes and age in place.

We are asking for your help in supporting all of these critical projects.
